Roy Clements was, for twenty years, the senior pastor of a leading evangelical church in the university city of Cambridge, England. Many hundreds of students attended, attracted mainly by the church's reputation for contemporary Bible teaching. The commentaries in this section demonstrate his commitment to biblical Christianity. They aim to expound the relevance of the Bible to the kind of situations which we face in today's world. Most published books by Roy Clements have been withdrawn. Some of these are still available through this website. The text of others which are out of print appears on this page, including: Commentary on the Gospel of Matthew In the late 1990's he was commissioned by John Stott, on behalf of the publisher IVP, to write the final volume in the New Testament part of the Bible Speaks Today series of expository commentaries. It was to be on the Gospel of Matthew. The book was almost complete in 1999 when, following his "outing" as homosexual, the contract was withdrawn. Some major sections of this unpublished commentary appear on this page. Introducing Jesus - on the gospel of John. Masterplan - on Genesis 1-11.
